Aarush Dolas representing India in World School Individual Championship in U-7 category held in Antalya, Turkey, won the Gold medal in this event. He was 7th seed in this tournament. Aarush won gold medal in this tournament by scoring 8 points in 9 games.
Aarush had started this event with 7 consecutive wins beating the players from Russia, Turkey, England, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. He played some brilliant games and many tactical combinations to beat his opponents. Unfortunately he lost penultimate round against Abdsattar Alisher of Kazakhstan which lasted for 4 hours and 60 moves. It was big setback for his championship dreams.
But Aarush fought for 4 hours in final game and the game lasted for 83 moves. He won that game and clinched the championship by clear half point lead over the fellow participants.
Another Pune player Nivaan Khandadia scored 6.5 points and won the Bronze medal on the better tiebreak.
There were total 38 players from 12 different countries.
Aarush is currently State u-7 Runner up and currently having 1035 of Fide International Rating.
Aarush is in Bishop’s school, he completed his 1st standard and promoted to 2nd standard. Aarush is getting trained by Kunte’s Chess academy under Mrunalini Kunte’s guidance. He is big prospect for Pune chess in coming years.
